  Nearly twenty years earlier, Rachel had given up the four youngest of her seven children. Though there was little hope of ever seeing them again, she thought of them constantly. How can a mother give up her children? Only God knows; he saw the tears her eyes, Rachel’s young life had been filled with abuse, confusion, restlessness and fear. By age 24 she was living with all of her children in a tiny, rat-infested house in Ontario. Bravely trying to raise all of her children alone. But , overwhelmed and broken hearted, she decided to split up the children. This decision seemed strangely normal to her. placed in an orphanage and foster care at a early age was a major part of her own childhood.

That was all I knew to do. I could possibly care for four, maybe even five; but not seven. I had no hopenothing.”
